The Journey of Rafael Cortés
It began in 1973 in the Ruhr area.
Influenced by his Spanish roots and his affinity for flamenco, he came into contact with music at an early age. His grandfather built him his first guitar, laying the foundation for his future path.
From a young age, Rafael dedicated himself intensively to his instrument. At nine years old, he first appeared on stage, and shortly thereafter his first solo concert followed. From that moment on, his musical career developed step by step.
Numerous concerts, studio recordings, and international projects followed. Beyond the realm of flamenco, Rafael also collaborates with renowned musicians, bringing his own style to diverse musical contexts.
He sees his Ruhr area origins not as a contradiction, but as a strength. Various cultural influences shape his expression and give his music its own unique character.
In 2010, Rafael Cortés was invited to Paris as a cultural ambassador to UNESCO and gave a concert there.
To this day, his music stands for expression, precision, and a clear connection between tradition and his own interpretation.
